Firstly, thank you to Steffen Meister, the Chairman of Partners Group, a Swiss based global equity firm with over $140 Billion in assets, for inviting me to participate in a fireside chat along with host Christina Han, Head of Investment Research at Partners, and Dr. Pippa Malgrem to discuss the implications of emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), crypto, and Web 3.0 on the global economy, geopolitics, and society at large.

Designed to be a wide ranging free flowing conversation, and coming on the back of yet another GPT release from OpenAI, we discussed a vast range of topics including the impact of Generative AI on work, the workforce, and the democratisation of skills and training, and the new AI arms race, then we switched gears to discuss the impact of AI in the boardroom, and on decision making.

We also discussed the emergence of fully autonomous organisations, so called headless brands like Bitcoin, new industry business models, Web 3 led Governance 2.0, and AI’s impact on everything from asset valuations and its ability to alter and manipulate the global financial markets, as well as its role in accelerating the pace of global disruption and product development.

Naturally, while the session was far too short to surface and discuss everything we still covered a huge amount of ground, even discussing the rise of semi autonomous AI, the future role of Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), and the run on Silicon Valley Bank, and at one point we even touched on race for space and the development of space based energy platforms. All of which is just the beginning of what was a very interesting session.
