Top 50 investors by capital raised in the last 36 months
Ranked by the money their funds raised in the last 36 months, from official US fund filings (Form D), never more than the private-fund assets they report to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (Form ADV, October 2026). 627 investors with an evidenced fund raise are ranked; firms that do not file in the US are not yet ranked. Each investor is labelled by type: venture capital, private equity, both, or hedge fund hybrid.

Who counts as an investor in this directory?
Any organisation that regularly takes stakes in startups or established companies: venture capital and private equity firms, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds that invest directly, accelerators, investment companies and family offices. Large listed asset managers are included only where they make private investments.
Where does the data come from?
Investor facts and documented investments come from Wikidata, the open knowledge base, published under a CC0 licence, checked on 3 October 2026. Links to startups and unicorns come from the 311 Institute Global Startups Directory and the 311 Unicorn Index.
What is an investor hub?
A place where investors cluster within about 120 kilometres of each other, such as Silicon Valley, New York, London or the Gulf. The same method is used for R&D and startup ecosystems, so the three directories can be compared.
Which investors back the most startups?
The ranking on this page orders investors by the number of investments documented in open records. It grows as the 311 Institute verifies new funding rounds.
Why is an investor missing?
The directory only lists investors with a public, openly licensed record. You can suggest an investor using the contact form.
Are wealthy individuals included?
Individuals who invest through a named vehicle, such as a family office or investment firm, appear here through that vehicle. A separate 311 Institute list covering the world's billionaires is in development.
