What are the 311 Institute indexes?
They are connected rankings and directories of the world's R&D labs, startups, unicorns, investors, largest companies, countries, cities and universities, built by the 311 Institute from official filings, open data and its own research.
How are the indexes connected?
Every entry links across the indexes: a startup links to its investors and its R&D ecosystem, a company to its labs, a city to everything it hosts, and a country to its economy and power.
Where does the data come from?
From official sources such as US SEC filings, Companies House, the World Bank and research registers, open databases such as Wikidata and OpenAlex, and verified funding announcements. Every index publishes its method and sources.
How often are they updated?
Continuously. New funding rounds, filings and official statistics flow into the indexes as they are published.
