Delaine and the team at Management Events invited Matthew to keynote their first CIOLive event, which would ordinarily have been held on site in Malaysia but moved online because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
CIOs and technology have always been integral to companies, Matthew noted, but as the global rate of change accelerates and the world adopts ever more powerful technologies, CIOs are finding it harder than ever to future proof themselves and their organisations.

From cloud and digital to 5G, Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality, and from robo-hackers to robo-programmers, no part of the IT stack is untouched by transformative change, bringing CIOs both opportunities and challenges.
In the keynote he showed how AI is helping companies transform legacy code and separate it from the underlying hardware, how AIs are evolving, and how product development is being disrupted. He also showed that AIs can already scan millions of lines of code to exploit or patch vulnerabilities in minutes, work that would traditionally have taken months or even years.
His closing message: the future is fast and technology is a rocket ship, but with enough foresight CIOs can tame it to their advantage.
