The news

Technology led with 1,485 stories, 23 per cent of coverage, covering robotics factories, quantum computing costs and AI in entertainment. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated an RBI data centre and cybersecurity institute in Odisha, while Bangladesh Bank's website was reported back online after a three-day cyber threat shutdown. A Trump adviser said a Canada trade deal was very close, and Reason Magazine reported some Canadian products were exempted from tariffs. GeekWire reported $137M spent on AI-generated midterm ads.

The activity

Security and defence followed at 11 per cent of coverage. Over the week, public attention rose 11 per cent in governance and policy and in development, while energy fell 49 per cent and risk and resilience fell 18 per cent. Events in the news included the World Investment Forum in Doha, the Bengaluru Tech Summit, the Gulf Cybersecurity Forum, a CCUS conference in Perth and the Russia and Africa summit.

The direction

AI appears to be moving from a technology story into elections, labour and financial security. Leaders may wish to watch how AI-generated political content is handled before the US midterms, and whether bank cyber resilience draws further investment. Falling energy attention sits beside reports of grid bottlenecks, so infrastructure limits on renewables merit monitoring. US and Canada trade talks and COP31 are also worth following.
